Dub of A Preacherman

Been really busy these last few months over at Rumpus doing animationating and stuff. Here's one of the more funner projects we've worked on. It's a music vid for my buddies Count Skylarkin and Harvey K-Tel's Dub of a Preacherman.
We really enjoyed working on this as it gave us a chance to use all the wacky sketchbook characters you can't normally get away with.

Bongoland E4 Sting

Spent the last couple of days working on a Rumpus entry for the E4 sting competition. Its a bit different from our normal stuff and we got Fon The Pern to help design the characters. Now all we need to do is WIN and we can see it on the tellybox.

Stoney Tony

Been really busy recently working on a Rumpus film with my good buddy Matthew The Horse. He drew the characters, we made it move. Val Kilmer did the voice work. It's all true, apparently.

Bertram-atronics

I've been having adventures with Bertram Fiddle almost exclusively this last few weeks. Me and Joe have been trying to get something together to show some extremely important people with the aid of the lovely WonkyFilms. Its all very cloak and dagger at the moment...just the way Bertram likes it!

here are some sketches of Victorian-ishy people that will probably never get used.

Bertram Fiddle

Me and Joe have been busy recently trying to update some of our good friend Bertram's videos. They were all made in 1896, you see, so are a bit fuzzy...

He's been enthralling us for hours with his tales of adventure. I just wish there was a way we could share them all with you.

Live animation from UPFEST

Spent a great day on saturday at UPFEST in Bristol in Dave Bain's Illustration room with the Inkygoodness people, Bristol drawing Club, Decked and beer. Here is the result of our attempt at animating in a busy room with real people staring over our shoulder. Thanks to everyone who came and said hello, and special thanks to our new little friend Cosmo!
We just wish we had planned what we were gong to do better! Next time, eh?

UPFESt 2010

Me and Joe are going to be attempting to animate LIVE before your very eyes at this years UPFEST at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol. As yet we have no idea how it is going to work, and as we are both most comfortable hiding in our dark holes are a bit nervous about it all.
If it works out well, I'm thinking of going on next years Britain's Got Talent.

Barry Bungle

I had some meetings with publishers the other day to show my portfolio, so I've been going through my files printing stuff out. Found these pics I did for another failed animation pitch about 3 years ago. I still really like them. I can't believe I'm not more successful! Arrrgghhhhhh!

Bugger it.

In a bit of a funny mood at the moment... Me old noggin seems to be having lots and lots of ideas, which makes a change, but I'm finding it hard to focus on any of them and get anything developed. I keep starting drawings and animations and stories and then getting distracted by, well, myself. And I've also just started a pottery course. Ha ha! I don't know why either! I'll be posting some pictures from it soon...
Meanwhile here are some more rough backgrounds for Joe and a couple of character sketches from another failed animation pitch.
Looking on the brighter side, Julian Sweeney is playing at Animated Exeter this saturday! Cheese and Onion!

Rumpus Backgrounds

Joe from Rumpus asked me to help out on some background designs for his latest animation. He's a bit of an no-outline fascist so will no doubt be getting rid of all my lovely black lines... but apart from that, he says he likes it. Which is nice.

Julian Sweeney

Joe has just finished an animation test for a little project we've been working on.

The voices were done by all-round smart-arses Louis Jones and Tom Parkinson.

The Films of Bertram Fiddle

Savanna Cider! Mmmmm!

Joe, Dave and Me animated the new campaign for Savanna Cider by DraftFCB, a big London Agency thingy in impossibly shiny offices. And everyone had shiny hair and shiny shoes and me and joe looked like a right pair of bumpkins when we went for a meeting. We did get some free samples of Savanna and it was very nice.... and I HATE cider normally.
The illustrations were done by the very talented Cristina Guitian.

It moves!

With a little help from Joe I've managed to upload the Disco Shed clip to Youtube. I know it shouldn't be that difficult, but technology is NOT my friend...
