Yummy in me tummy

I loved the food in Japan, but I was so happy to have a proper Cheese and Tomato sandwich when we got back

Tadaimaaaa

phew! I'm now back in rainy old England. The exhibition was a success. I managed to sell about half of my paintings and all of me postcards and met some really cool people at the gallery too. I can definitely recommend having a look round if you are ever in Tokyokiyoland. A BIG THANKS to all the staff, especially Nigel... a little slice of England in Japan.
Here are a few more scans of some of the paintings. Me camera is playing up so I can't upload any photos of the exhibition yet... but will do soon(ish)

3 days to go!!!

I'm having a great time in Japan so far and head off to Tokyo on thursday to hang my work in the gallery. I just realised, though, that it might be a bit difficult to find... so here is a map.
My paintings are in the West Gallery, room 1A.

15 days to go!

Here is a little taster of some of the paintings and stuff that I've been doing for the exhibition. There's loads more, but I'm not going to post them till after the show. I've actually surprised myself with how many I've done....All are acrylic and posca pens on either canvas or cardboard.
See you in Tokyo!

Mr Postman just gave me a copy of Open Me Up, a new encyclopedia about the human body from Dorling Kindersley that I did an illustration for. Here is a badly scanned image of the spread. I think it looks lovely! Thanks Hoa!!!

fatty-bum-bum

Got asked to draw a fat bloke for Gutsy. Not entirely sure why.

Monday, 24 August 2009

Not done much lately that is bloggable so I thought I'd post the digital version of the screenprints I did for last year's Inkygoodness show. They've got another show coming up this September which should be a good 'un. I was too busy to participate this time... but maybe next year, if they'll have me.

The Decked Project

As well as all the recent work for children's books and me and Joe's animation projects I've also only gone and got meself in some fancy exzeebitions. It's really nice to have the chance to do some personal work where I can draw monsters with cocks for noses without anyone telling me off. First one is this painting on a skateboardy-thing for the upcoming Decked Project in Londontown. Its on from 25th-30th august at the Stolenspace Gallery in Shoreditch and has boards by some of the best young illustrators and designers around. And fat old me. The lovingly thrashed deck was kindly donated by Marcus Roots Nutting esq.
And in November I'm having my first international show in Tokyo... more details and cock noses to come.

Spectacle-ular

Here are some bits of pictures from the Who Wears Glasses book (by Ana Galan) that I've been illustrating. Its a children's book that aims to make all the speccy four-eyes out there feel better about wearing glasses. I hope they enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed drawing it.

P Noddy

Ooooh... its less than 2 weeks until I am abandoning my family and going to the Big Chill Festival with the lovely Gnomes at the Disco Shed. Just done a design for a new t-shirt to keep them and all their woodland friends warm.

Very Fishy

Continuing with the underwater theme, here is a spread from a book I'm working on. Its not been approved yet, so I probably shouldn't put it up yet.... but I really like it and I'm feeling dangerous. Whoooo! That's how I roll, baby!

Ups and Downs

Joe recently got asked to submit a pitch for what may have been our dream job... as usual, we got very, VERY excited. The deadline was really tight, but we came up with a couple of pictures to show what our final film might look like, then sat back waited for the phonecall to tell us how brilliant we were and that we had got the job. I spent all week trying to decide what I was going to spend the money on when we got an email saying they liked what we had done, but someone else had done something better... Neeeeee-ooowwwwwnnnn! CRASH!!!
Now I'm all grumpy and eating too many biscuits.
